MANILA, PHILIPPINES, September 29, 2017 — Since 2009, DevCon Philippines has empowered Filipino IT talent to seize the opportunities of a fast-moving digital future. It’s in the spirit of this mission that DevCon is moving DevCon Summit 2017 to November 18-19 at SMX Convention Center – SM Aura in order to allow for a new theme, #ChangingTheGamePH. The goal: to empower Pinoy developers to take lead in the fields of Blockchain, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, DevOps, and Cybersecurity.

“These are the technologies that will shape the next decade,” said Winston Damarillo, Founder and President of DevCon Philippines. “These tools can help us unlock tremendous economic opportunity and societal impact if our best and brightest are prepared for it.”

Brian Behlendorf, one of the world’s foremost thought leaders and game changers in tech, will be joining the DevCon Summit 2017 as opening Keynote Speaker. As Executive Director of Hyperledger at Linux Foundation, former CTO of the World Economic Forum, and Founding President of the Apache Software Foundation, Behlendorf has been at the leading edge of open-source and distributed technologies and their impact on society.

“Now more than ever, developers can transform the world,” said Behlendorf. “I look forward to getting to know the next generation of Filipino IT talent and their potential to innovate, succeed, and take the lead on the global stage.”

In line with these changes, DevCon will also be sharing some major announcements regarding DevCon as an organization after its 9 years of leadership in the IT community. In 9 years, DevCon has become the biggest developer conference in the Philippines. This year alone, its nationwide footprint encompassed our regional chapters in Iloilo on September 30, Davao on October 7, and Cagayan De Oro on October 21. The organizers look forward to sharing DevCon’s future with the audience at DevCon Summit 2017.
